IImportant Message from the President

To all our members, players and sponsors,

With the extraordinary and unprecedented circumstances occurring around the globe due to COVID-19, it is important that I provide you all with an update on the current implications for our Football Club and the upcoming season.

Firstly, as a community based football club we continue towards the 2020 season with confidence and enthusiasm bearing in mind that we always endeavor to meet our particular responsibilities to ensure the safety and well being of our players, members, volunteers, sponsors and club patrons.

Although the guidelines and restrictions now being placed on individual and group social and sporting activities seem quite onerous we do understand that they have been well thought through and put in place for good reason by the Governments of the day after consultation with medical experts.

As you are no doubt aware, there are now more stringent requirements for the Club to comply with both on and off the field and the practicality of it all is that these are continuously evolving.

Here is what we know so far;

The AFL has released the following statement on Friday 20th March 2020 with all leagues across the country complying with the requirements.

The AFL has made a recommendation that all AFL Community Club competitions and NAB AFL Auskick Centres currently operating and set to begin, be postponed until 31 May 2020, in line with the recent decision to postpone State League football.

Protecting participants, spectators, coaches, umpires and volunteers to help mitigate risks of COVID-19 spreading in public environments – continuing operating Community Clubs and programs risks those environments becoming a mode for spreading the infection.

Practically, it will be extremely challenging to commence seasons as planned, as our advice is that our 2020 Community Football season is highly likely to experience significant interruptions in the first part of the year.

We are determined to be part of the whole of community response to slow this virus down – and in doing so, help the broader community and our health systems to cope.

We are united across our industry in making hard decisions necessary to protect the health and livelihoods of our football family.

The coaching staff have since met with players and advised of the following actions;

  • All structured group training has been postponed until further notice

  • Players have been requested to train individually

  • All organised junior training has been suspended until further notice

Clubrooms & Gatherings

The latest requirements for indoor gatherings have placed closure restrictions on all venues such as our Club and it obliges us to close the clubrooms effective from today. As soon as we have any information regarding a re-opening date we will let everyone know. It is predicted however, that this closure could be more a matter of months rather than weeks.

Monster Auction

Our major pre-season fundraiser event the monster auction was scheduled for Saturday 28th March adjacent to the Apple Fun Park but the Management Committee has determined that this event will now be conducted online and our committee are working hard to put this all together so watch out for it very soon.

Please take care and if you are able to assist the club in anyway please put up your hand and contact any of our Management Committee who I am sure can find you something worthwhile to contribute.

Club memberships are available for the 2020 season and our new merchandise has arrived so give Shelley a call on 0408899320

I would also like to add that the support of our players, coaches members, volunteers and sponsors going forward is vitally important to the Club as we all navigate unchartered waters into the 2020 season and beyond.

Updates are being received from the WAFL and we will endeavor to keep you updated on a regular basis.
