Donnybrook Football Club today announced one of it’s most successful players, Ben Howlett, will make his return to country footy with the Club in 2022.
Originally from Donnybrook, Howlett played 124 AFL games for Essendon after being drafted with pick 30 in the 2010 rookie draft.
The Club’s Head Coach Shane Bolton said “we are really excited to have Ben and his family be part of our Club. Ben not only brings a wealth of experience, he represents everything the club values and will have a positive influence on the team’s culture and emerging players.”
Ben Howlett, who recently moved back to the south west region with his wife Emma and three young children , after retiring from the WAFL league said “I’m thrilled to be returning to Donnybrook, I had the privilege of growing up here and now I have the opportunity to raise my own family in the place I grew up. I look forward to being part of the Club in 2022.”
Howlett’s playing career also includes over 100 games in the WAFL with Peel Thunder, where he also captained the team.
Pre-season training for the Donnybrook Senior Mens and Womens team commences this week at VC Mitchell Park as the players prepare to take on the 2022 SWFL Season.
